About Tanya

I’m Tanya, a Bachelor Degree qualified Creative Arts Psychotherapist, Registered with ANZACATA and the founder of Nature Creative since 2021. ANZACATA describes arts therapists as allied health professionals who specialise in the use of ‘more than verbal’ approaches to therapy, including the visual arts, music, dance/movement, creative writing and drama, as well as play, embodied/somatic, nature-based and animal-assisted methods. Arts Therapies are evidence-based and highly effective for clients in need of a different approach to traditional talk therapies.

I am passionate about the therapeutic power of nature and the arts; my holistic approach to therapy, combining nature, art, and mindfulness, reflects my understanding of the interconnectedness of human well-being and the natural world.

Nature Creative is a private arts therapy business committed to providing a trauma-informed, supportive, and inclusive environment with a passion for supporting neurodivergent children and families and children who have experienced adverse childhood events.

My approach is embedded in compassion, neuroaffirmation, and strength-based methods. I use a gentle, humanistic, client-centred and empowering therapeutic approach to support emotional understanding and self-regulation supported by the latest neuroscience. I offer a vast range of intermodal art explorations to enhance creativity, playfulness and experiential enquiry into oneself.

Reconnecting people to nature - their true nature.

Reconnecting people to themselves through creativity.

Experience

Artist, Trainer and Arts Psychotherapist

I have experience teaching art skills and techniques to children and adults using a pedagogical method, caring for and bringing learning to life through theory and practical application. Art classes are based on many years of personal visual art exploration and a love of nature.

Art therapy is very different to an art class. In 2024, I achieved my Bachelor's Degree in Arts Psychotherapy with a distinction average at the nationally acclaimed Ikon Institute. I now offer online and in-person Art Therapy at the Nature Creative studio. As an art therapist, I have a special interest in working with neurodivergent children and their families and with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, low confidence and self-esteem.

I am also employed by a reputable Wellbeing Service as a trauma-informed primary school Art Therapist.

As a former workplace trainer and regional business manager, I believe excellent customer service and client nurturing are at the forefront of all Nature Creative services, classes, and workshops.

Current WWCC - Working with Children Certificate, RAN and Police Clearances.
